Flash – Our Little Miracle
Flash’s story is one of resilience, compassion, and the extraordinary healing that happens at the Ranch.
When Flash was first discovered by Animal Control, he was a white Miniature Horse in desperate need of help. His previous owner claimed he was “just old,” but a veterinary exam revealed the truth: Flash was not 30, but only 15 years old — and he was suffering. His body score was a 2, dangerously thin. All four hooves were severely overgrown, putting him at risk for chronic lameness. Without intervention, Flash would not have survived.
Thanks to the tireless work of Animal Control Officers, Flash — along with his companion Wilder — was removed from neglect and given a second chance. Here at the Ranch, he received the nutrition, farrier care, and veterinary support he needed to heal. And heal he did.
Today, Flash is thriving. Healthy, happy, and full of personality, he has become a beloved permanent resident at the Ranch. His gentle presence and loving spirit make him a favorite in our Mental Health programs, where he brings comfort, connection, and joy to visitors of all ages.
Despite the hardship he endured, Flash greets everyone with kindness and curiosity. Rumored to have once been trained as a cart horse, he now spends his days offering something even more valuable — a reminder of resilience, hope, and the incredible difference compassion can make.
Flash is not just part of our Ranch family… he is one of its brightest lights.
