Meet Little Man — A Gentle Heart With a Big Purpose

Little Man is one of those rare horses whose presence changes the space around him. Donated by The Barnes Ranch in Littleton, Colorado, he joined our Veterans Program after receiving three years of professional training. Before coming to us, he spent his days moving cows, roping, and working hard on the ranch — a true partner in every sense.

Today, Little Man uses that same steady spirit in a different kind of work.

With children, adults, and veterans in our Mental Health Programs, he offers something that can’t be taught: comfort, connection, and unconditional acceptance. People fall in love with him the moment he turns his soft, kind eyes toward them. His gentle face puts kids at ease instantly, and his calm presence helps open the door to trust — sometimes for the first time in a very long time.

When he’s not working, Little Man enjoys quiet pasture time with his friends in our general herd. He is a permanent resident here, and he will spend the rest of his life doing what he seems born to do: helping people heal, trust, and rediscover love.

Little Man may be small in name, but he has an immeasurably big heart. And we are grateful every day for the lives he touches.
